Seeing Dots

TGIF!

We’re heading out on our boat with some friends today. Can’t wait to spend some time in the sun and out of the boutique. David needs some well deserved time off, too.

Cheers to a relaxing and safe Memorial Day Weekend.

Yoga is for Lovers

Yoga is for Lovers

Aerie Shirt | Aerie Yoga Shorts | ToeSox | Lucy Sports Bra | Athleta Tote | Yoga Mat (old, but loving this | Yoga Cork Block

I have practiced yoga almost a year now and I haven’t looked back. Yoga definitely helped me with stress from planning our wedding  and continually allows me to free my mind for that hour on the mat. I’d like to think that I have gotten pretty good in my practice (still trying to master my handstand. . . Mantra: it’s all about the journey), but I want to try something new and challenging. Enter Hot Yoga. I plan on trying out a new class this week – hopefully I survive. I heard it’s pretty intense … 100* room intense. purposely putting yourself in a not-so-pleasant-situation and enjoying it might be crazy, but if that’s not yoga love, I don’t know what is. With all that sweating in the near future, I need breathable & lightweight clothes. Shorts are a must as well as a sheer tank and ToeSox. These are AMAZING. If you tend to sweat once you hit the mat, these are a blessing. Say it with me … no. more. slipping.

Can’t wait to try my class! I’ll let you know how it goes. Namaste!

Dating 101

Hands down, first dates are all about first impressions and lasting details.  They are arguably your love life’s most important interview. First dates evoke the unknown, romance, giddiness, stomach butterflies, and for those that aren’t sure on what to wear, stress. Here are six tips to finding the perfect first date night outfit to keep them coming back for more.

  •  Wearing your favorite pair of fitted or skinny jeans: Nothing says “I know what works for my body” than knowing how to wear suitable jeans. Muffin tops are never cute, ever. The right fitting pair of jeans can do wonders for your body and can be worn on almost any occasion. Casual dinner date? Bowling? Jeans can be your wardrobe go-to. You can’t go wrong with dark wash to colored denim.
  • A fitted top, sweater, or tee: First dates crave mystery so no navel-baring shirts allowed. This also includes knowing when showing cleavage is too much. You never want to show that much skin. What will there to be look forward to on the dates that follow?

  • A simple dress: Dresses are my favorite date night option. They are easy to throw on and are extremely versatile. Stay away from full on animal prints and anything that is too tight and short. Can you sit, dance, and move easily? Keep the dress tailored, soft, flowy and feminine and I guarantee you will look fabulous.

  •    Short heels, boots, or flats: Comfort is key. Especially on the first date. Don’t bombard your date with complaints of sore feet and tiresome legs. Although fun and sexy, stilettos can be intimidating. If heels are a must, stick with a kitten heel or wedges. Both still offer height without the overwhelming factor.
  •  Simple jewelry and baubles: Men are not complex creatures and tend to be leery of extreme accessories. Keep things simple with a pair of great earrings or a statement necklace. We want to keep your date focused on you! I love anything from Bauble Bar. They supply beautiful jewelry at an affordable price-point.

  • Be Natural: This includes makeup and hair. I’ve asked countless men when they think a woman is most sexy and 9 times out of 10 they say when she isn’t wearing any makeup. This doesn’t mean you absolutely shouldn’t wear makeup, but definitely means no smoky eye or neon lip.  Keep it natural with foundation, light eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, and a light pink glossed lip.

Remember these are just my suggestions on what to wear. Always be yourself on the first date! Regardless of what you decide to put on, nothing makes you look better than confidence. Never try to impress your date by wearing something that you normally wouldn’t. Be smart, sexy and subtle by simply being you.

Buttercup

Rain, rain go away! The gloomy, wet weather has been constant for the past few days now and today was no different. I welcomed the rain – it was a perfect excuse to stay indoors and work on an art project for our master bath. Who doesn’t love a good dreary day? C’mon… you know you do. I’ve eyed this on Pinterest now for a while and finally got around to making one for myself. I snatched up the paint swatches at Wal-Mart months ago, so I’m sure David is happy to see them put into use. Regardless,  the variety of yellow swatches & their fun titles – like Buttercup, Crisp Ginger Ale, & Butterscotch – brought some brightness to my day. How do you like to spend gloomy days indoors?
